Thomas Hackney Obituary Thomas William Hackney was born on Sunday, June 16, 1940, to the late Mack and Louise Hackney. Thomas departed earth to return to the Kingdom 84 years later, on Sunday, March 30, 2025, in the Durham VA Health Care System. Thomas, who was also known as Snoop and Big Hack to his family and friends, graduated from Lincoln High School. In his youth he went on to enlist in the United States Army where he served for 3 years. He later continued to serve his country as a Newark, New Jersey Police Department Detective for 20 years. Thomas was preceded in death by his siblings: Helen Hartman, William Hackney, and Nathan Hackney; and nephew: Roderick. Thomas has left behind his former wife: Cora Hackney; their children: Sharon Hackney and Sonya Hackney; grandsons: Jordan Hackney, Maurice Hackney (Faith), Ian Lawrence, and Zion Hackney; great-grandchildren: Emery, Evin, Eli, Zazie, Ziggy, and Eden Hackney; sisters-in-law: Mattie and Virginia Hackney; nieces and nephews: Anthony, Eyvetta, Natalie, Nathan Jr., Duane, and Natosha.
