Sonya Julaine Farrington

Sonya Farrington Obituary Sonya was born in Orange County, NC at Chapel Hill Hospital. As a baby, she was adopted and raised by her biological grandparents Wade and Ellene Farrington. She was educated in Chatham County, NC, where she graduated from Northwood High School, Class of 1981. In school she played point guard for the womens basketball team and was a member of the softball team. Additionally, She drove the school bus for the Chatham county school system. After graduating from high school, she attended Winston Salem State University. Sonya enjoyed caring for others and worked as a candy striper at NC memorial hospital prior to obtaining a nursing assistant certificate. After receiving her certificate, she went on to work at North Carolina Memorial Hospital. Julaine, as she was affectionately known by her loved ones leaves to mourn her mother Carolyn, daughter Keoria, grandson Kaycen, Sister Yosia, brother Everett, aunts Geraldine and Doreatha, Uncle Wade (Jennette) and a host of other family members and loved ones who wish they had one more chance to see her. She was preceded in death by her father George Mangum and Grandparents Wade and Ellene Farrington. We will not paint a picture of a rosy life instead we want to share that Sonyas struggle with mental illness and addiction was real and Sonyas determination to remain independent and not seek out refuge from family and friends caused tough times in her life, but she always found a way to let everyone know she was okay. Until she wasnt. We will miss knowing she is still on this earth with us, but we know there is no more illness, no more worry, and she is safe in the ever-forgiving loving arms of our Heavenly Father. To all of you who knew her, we ask that you not let her struggles be in vain. If you know someone struggling and you cant reach out to them, pray for them continuously.
