Melvin Junior Council Sr.

Melvin Junior Council Sr. Was born to the late Sophia Elizabeth Council Bethea and the late John Henry Edwards on January 11,1958 at Memorial Hospital in Chapel Hill, NC.

He attended Chapel Hill city schools where he graduated from Chapel Hill Sr, High school. He worked as an auto mechanic at Yates Motor Company while still in school. Where he was later named as a Master Mechanic. He had a love for fast cars, math, cutting down trees and was a thrill seeker. He loved helping his kids with their math. Besides being a great father, he was a great father figure. When it came to family nothing else mattered. He was a prankster at times. However, his greatest passion in life was working on cars helping others and playing horseshoes. Every day he would come home from school and read his mechanic books. He was a jack of all trades.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Emma Lois Clark Council and sisters, Estelle Bell, Johnnie Mae and Becky Edwards.

He leaves to cherish his loving memory two daughters, Emmily Ann Council (Charles Brown) of the home and Paressa Leann Moses of Durham, NC.; two sons, Lamarius Remond Council of Graham, NC and Melvin Council Jr. (Frenshell Council) of Graham, NC.; three brothers, Louis Bethea of Chapel Hill, NC, Mark (Gonzo) Bethea of Mebane, NC and Clarence Edwards of Lillington, N.C.; three sisters, Cynthia and Robin Bethea both of Chapel Hill, NC, Pamela Gbalah of Washington, DC, and Cynthia ( Moonkie) Baldwin of Chapel Hill, NC; nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; three sisters-in-law, Vanessa Obie of Graham, NC, Sondra Woods (Ray Woods) of Burlington, NC and Stella Chesney (Jerry) of Sanford, N.C. He also leaves two special nieces, Paula Edwards and Carrie Obie both of Chapel Hill, NC; and a host of aunts, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
