Kelvin Lawrence Johnson, known as “Blimp” or “Baby Boy” was born on September 12, 1963. He grew up in the Perry Hill area. His parents were the late Bobby Johnson and Dorothy Johnson. He attended Orange High School, in Hillsborough, NC. Kelvin departed his earthly journey on October 17, 2025, while surrounded by loved ones at AuthorCare in Burlington, NC. In addition, he was predeceased by this grandparents, Robert and Hattie Brooks Johnsonand uncle, George W. Johnson.
Kelvin enjoyed his life to the fullest. He enjoyed food, fun, family, friends and football. He showed examples of his love throughout his life. Kelvin always enjoyed eating and could he eat? Despite being slim, he loved good food. He continued to request his favorite food throughout his life: ox tails, neckbones, collard greens, and cornbread. Regardless of where Kelvin was, he was the life of the gathering. He enjoyed having fun with family and friends. He was known for dressing with the latest style and always willing to show off his 2-step dance. Family meant a lot to Kelvin. He grew up with a strong family background from his parents and grandparents. He was blessed with many friends of all ages. No matter where he went, he was able to strike a conversation and flash a contagious smile. Lastly, Kelvin was an avid sports fan, basketball and football. His favorite teams were NC State and Dallas Cowboys. He was so happy to watch his final Dallas Cowboy game surrounded by his family. He did not even get upset when they lost. The biggest win for him was seeing it with his loved ones, one more time before God called him Home.
He leaves to cherish his memories with hisdaughters: Charetha (Calvin Kendrick Jr) Franklin; and Bridget Johnson; grandchildren: Calynn Kendrick and Carleigh Kendrick; two special nieces: Temple (Keionn) Johnson; Tatiana (Moo) Withers; brother: Rev. Keith (Dean) Johnson; sisters: Felecia Johnson and Anissa Johnson; nephews: Travis Jeffries; Patrick (Tanita) Johnson; and Ronald Perry; aunts: Eleanor (Benjamin) Morrow and Maxine Johnson; uncle: Robert Lee Johnson and a host of great nieces, great nephews, cousins, and friends.
