Geraldine Louise Strayhorn Farrington, 77, of 2614 Neville Rd in Chapel Hill, NC entered into eternal rest on Saturday, April 19, 2025, after a courageous battle with cancer. She departed peacefully at her home surrounded by loved ones and the presence of family. Throughout her journey, Geraldine displayed incredible courage and unwavering faith. She fought with determination and grace. Geraldine Louise Strayhorn Farrington was born on September 9, 1947, in Chatham County, NC. She attended Chatham County Schools. She was married on July 6, 1968, to the love of her life, Charles R. Farrington Sr. They were married for 56 years. Geraldine was employed with UNC Hospitals, for 20-plus years until retirement. She was affectionately known for her deep love of the holidays, her gift of gardening, and her unwavering enthusiasm for preparing home-cooked meals -always made with care and shared with joy. Her home was a place of warmth and welcome, filled with the scent of fresh-baked treats, the beauty of blooming flowers, and the laughter of friends and family. Geraldine brought people together through her kindness, her generous spirit, and her ability to find joy in lifes simple pleasures. She was a beloved [ mother/grandmother/sister/friend], and her memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew her. Geraldine was preceded in death by her parents, William Alexander Strayhorn and Annie Burnette Strayhorn Thompson, Clinton Thompson (Stepfather) and her brother, John Strayhorn. She leaves to cherish her nurturing, loving memories: her husband, Charles R. Farrington Sr., two daughters, Wendy Farrington; Glenda Farrington-Sanders (Stanley Sanders); her only son, Charles Farrington Jr.; Seven sisters and one brother, Pauline Wilson, Bessie Poole (Brodie Poole), Annie Brown (Fred Brown), Joseph Strayhorn, Delilah Strayhorn Weeks, Sylvia Thompson McNeill, Drina Thompson-Wright and Janice Toler; Four grandchildren; Dylan Farrington-H., Terron Farrington, Marya Sanders and Charles R.
