Mrs. Evelene Bell Stroud Suitt, daughter of the late Nathaniel & Viola Stroud, was born February 23, 1942, and passed away December 9, 2025.
She was educated in the Chatham County School System.
At an early age she joined White Oak Missionary Baptist Church. She later moved her membership to Mt. Vernon Missionary Baptist Church to be with her husband. In her later years she decided to move her membership back to her home church where she remained a faithful member until her health declined. She attended Sunday School, she served as a Deaconess, Pastor’s Aid Ministry, Food Bank, Kitchen Ministry, and sang with the Senior Choir.
July 2, 1960, she married the love of her life, Mr. Thomas Suitt, and to this union two children were born.
Evelene loved to cook and was an excellent baker. She loved her family and church family. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend.
Proceeding her in death were her parents, her sisters Ernestine Hackney, Ila Jean Satterwhite, her brother Garland Navon Stroud, her nephew Jesse James Hackney Jr, and nieces Jacqueline Hackney and Aundrea Blackwell.
She leaves to cherish her memories, her husband, Thomas Suitt, Sr; son Thomas Suitt, Jr (Teresa); daughter, Helen Suitt-Carter (Rodney); 5 grandchildren, Chenyqua, Jasmine, Eve, LaTasha, & LaToya, 4 great-grandchildren, A’nyjah, A’den, Joesiah, and Jonaira, 1 sister, Eura Mae Byrd, 1 brother, Malphus Gene Stroud, two sister-in-laws Dorothy Chapman, Lillie Cabrera and a number of nieces, nephews, cousins and loving friends.
