Cynthia Snipes Obituary Cynthia Jones Snipes was born in Durham, North Carolina, on March 2, 1952, to Henry Lee Jones and Dorothy Young Jones. From her early childhood until the moment of her departure, she was affectionately known to her family and close friends as "Cynt". Cynthia was a loving and compassionate person, celebrated for her extraordinary ability to connect with others, offering support, understanding, and a warm smile wherever she went. She was a giver at heart. Cynthia received her education in the Chapel Hill-Carrboro City Schools, earning her high school diploma from Chapel Hill High School in 1971. She retired from UNC Hospital as a switchboard operator after more than thirty years of dedicated service. She met the love of her life, the late James Artis Snipes, Sr. Cynthia was known for her strong will, unwavering determination, and her love and support for her family and community. Cynthia was baptized at an early age and began her Christian journey at Hamlet Chapel CME Church in Pittsboro, North Carolina. Cynthia is survived by her loving family. She leaves behind cherished memories with her nine sisters: Sharon Bynum and Sonya Jones; both of Pittsboro, NC. Menessah Jones Beasley (Charles) of Elon, NC, Yolanda Small (Henry) of Chapel Hill, NC, Brenda Burnett, Cecelia Bynum, Thelma Degraffenreid (Skip), and Robenia Jones: all of Pittsboro, NC. She is also survived by two brothers, Eric Jones III of Ft. Lauderdale, FL, and Shawn Jones of Pittsboro, NC; two uncles, George Jones of Fayetteville, NC, and Tommy Jones (Stella) of Durham, NC; two aunts, Janie Jones of Chapel Hill, NC, and Lind Jones of Durham, NC; as well as countless nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends who will forever remember her kindness, wisdom, and infectious laughter. She is preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, Phillip Jones, Alvin Jones, Darryl Bynum and one sister, Regina Jones Richardson, with whom she is now reunited in eternal peace Service Program Click to download / open
