Christine Watson Neville was born on May 26, 1932 and peacefully passed away on May 12, 2025, at the graceful age of 92; surrounded by love ones at UNC Hospice Home in Pittsboro, North Carolina. She was born to the late Charlie Watson and Mary Minor Watson. She was married to the late Burnell Neville who preceded her in death.
Christine was a graduate of Lincoln High School. She worked as a Residential Housekeeper for over 30 years for Charles and late Mary House, owner of University Florist, where she was considered family and was loved by their children and grandchildren.
Her home church was Hickory Grove Baptist Church, Chapel Hill. She then joined the First Church of God Christian Fellowship in Carrboro, NC where she was a member for over 30 years. With her dedication and love, she was chosen as the "Mother of the Church". She was also the Treasurer for the Adult Sunday School and also served as an Usher.
She was preceded in death by her sisters, Lizzie Lyght, Emma Farrar and Ella Mitchell, and a brother Willie Watson and survived by sister Gertrude Long to whom she was inseparable. Also her pet chihuahua "Smokey" whom she cherished for 14 years.
She leaves to mourn daughters Sharon Neville, Karen Neville, sons Douglas Watson (Shirley), Calvin Watson (Sonya). Her grandchildren Antonio Neville, Sonya Neville, Nateria Rosser, Nakia Rosser, Tankia Neville, Omar Neville, Mario Neville, Ashley Watson, Calvin Watson, Jr., Tremayne Bennett, Giavonnie Pride, and a host of great-grand children, nieces and nephews, extended family and friends. And her precious dog, "Mazi".
Christine was a very "selfless" person, always showing a genuine love and care for anyone around her. She was a pillar in the Community where she lived for over 50 years. She deeply loved her Housing Community. Christine was undeniably strong both spiritually and physically. She was full of "Prayers" and "Faith". She loved helping others and never turned anyone away from her door. Whether you needed a home-cooked meal or a financial blessing, she was there to help you. Shes well known for her fresh turnip greens, potato salad and homemade biscuits. She loved singing Old Gospel Hymns any time of the day. You would always find her sitting outside on the porch, watching the birds eat from the bird feeder and drinking from the bird bath. She enjoyed filling out crossword puzzles. She would go out to eat with friends, visit Thrift Shops and garage sales. Her favorite pastime quickly became buying "Scatch-Off" lottery tickets where the odds were typically in her favor and she would always share that love with others.
"Well done my good and faithful servant. Enter thou into the joy of the Lord". Matthew 25:21
