Charleen Riggsbee

God in his infinite wisdom and tender mercy called his faithful servant home from her labor. Charleen "Sally" Riggsbee, our beloved mother, grandmother, aunt, sister, cousin, and friend departed this life on Sunday, June 7, 2026. She was born November 19, 1957 in Orange County, NC to the late Joe Lee Riggsbee and Bithe B. Riggsbee.

As a young woman, Charleen received her education from Durham County Public Schools and graduated from Charles E Jordan in 1977. She received her Associate's Degree in Early Childhood Education, Bachelor of Arts Degree in Primary and Youth Education Ministry, and a Master's Degree in Biblical Studies. For two decades she worked as a bus driver for Durham Public Schools and then at Holmes Childcare until she departed this life. She was a faithful lifetime member of Barbee's Chapel Harvest Word Ministry where she drove the church van.

Charleen was a woman who was beautiful, loving, caring, kind, and gentle. She would help anyone in need. Her biggest passion was working with and helping children. Her smile was one that could light even the darkest room. But most of all, she knew Jesus Christ and walked every word; she was truly an amazing blessing from God.

She was preceded in death by her parents Joe Lee Riggsbee and Bithe B Riggsbee; two brothers Daryl Bynum and Fernanda Bell; one sister Nina Gattis, and one granddaughter Angel Duncan.

She is survived by two children Takeisha Hailey (Terry) of Suffolk, VA and Whitney Jean Williams of Haw River, NC; three grandchildren Tristen, Trenten and Trinity Hailey; three brothers Reginald Riggsbee of Chapel Hill, NC, Rev. Anthony Noel of Chapel Hill, NC, and James Riggsbee of Burlington NC; three sisters Sharon Riggsbee of Chapel Hill, NC, Lynn Riggsbee of Durham, NC and Maria Bell of Greensboro, NC; a very special friend Edward Evans (Leslie) of Raleigh, NC; a very special cousin Rosalyn Alston (Elonnie) of Chapel Hill, NC; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
