Carol Jean Street

On Friday, July 11th, 2025, Carol Jean (Brown) Street passed away peacefully at UNC Hospital in Hillsborough, North Carolina.

Born January 18th, 1946 in Durham County, Carol was one of seven to the late Elnora O’Kelly Brown and Eustes Brown. She was educated in the Orange County School System.

On August 24th, 1980, Carol was joined in holy matrimony to John Street in Orange County. The love that John and Carol shared was a deep and enduring bond. Their devotion was evident in how they cared for one another.

From a young age, Carol was an exceedingly hard worker that did not complain. She worked in many jewelry stores over the years and found the beauty in various styles and elegant pieces. She enjoyed helping people, working on puzzles, and spending time with her loving grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Carol was preceded in death by four brothers: Raymond O’Kelly, Clyde L. Brown, Arthur W. Brown, and Hubert L. Brown. One sister: Mattie Mitchell, and one grandson: Javonte Brooks (TJ).

Her loving memory will forever be cherished by one son: Antonio Brown of Raleigh, NC. One daughter: Rarikanichie Brooks (Angel) of Hillsborough, NC. Three grandsons; Brandon Brown of Durham, NC, Jordon Brown of Washington D.C., and Anthony Brooks of Hillsborough, NC. Two sisters: Hazeline Atwater and Eleanor B. Caldwell of Chapel Hill, NC. One sister-in-law: Lillie Brown of Carrboro, NC, and three beautiful great-granddaughters, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives, and friends.
