Osborne Gould Bingham Sr., affectionately known as Bishop Osborne Bingham, was born on June 4, 1936, to the late Wilbur and Serena Bingham in Plainview, Virginia. He was the youngest of six children.
Bishop Bingham was known for his fun-loving and warm personality. He was truly a man of God who loved to laugh, share joy, and bring smiles to others. While he enjoyed life, he remained deeply committed to serving the Lord with his whole heart, always giving his very best in everything he did.
He was born and raised in Plainview, Virginia, where he also received his education. After graduating from high school, he enlisted in the United States Army and faithfully served four years on active duty. Following his military service, he began working as a skilled body and fender technician. He was exceptionally talented in his craft and had a remarkable ability to restore even the oldest vehicles, making them look brand new.
After leaving the military, Bishop Bingham relocated to New York, where he met the love of his life, Annie Elizabeth Jones. Together, they were blessed with one son, Osborne Bingham, Jr., affectionately known as “Dinky.” Bishop and Annie shared more than 60 years of marriage before her passing. Their love was undeniable. They were rarely seen apart and were truly devoted to one another. Annie lovingly called him “Daddy,” and he affectionately called her “Baby,” a name that perfectly reflected their bond.
Music was a central part of their family life. Bishop Bingham had a deep love for music and played several instruments, while Annie possessed a beautiful singing voice. He passed his musical gifts on to his son, continuing a legacy of music within the family. Bishop also wrote original songs for his male chorus in New York. During his time in the secular music world, he had the opportunity to play alongside many renowned artists, including the legendary Ray Charles.
Bishop Bingham had a profound love for ministry. He answered the call to ministry in the 1980s and later founded Acts Temple Apostolic Congregational Church. Through his leadership, many lives were transformed, and numerous ministries were birthed. His evangelistic work spanned many years, touching countless lives. Even after being ordained as Bishop, his work in ministry never ceased, as he continued to serve faithfully across different states.
He was also an author, writing his first book titled “Step Into Your Anointing.” This inspirational work encouraged readers to recognize their true calling and walk in it without delay. Bishop Bingham emphasized the importance of aligning with one’s God-given purpose and not wasting time in areas outside of one’s anointing.
Bishop Bingham was preceded in death by wife of sixty-four years, Annie Elizabeth Bingham ("Baby"), his parents, his siblings, and a special niece, Mary Serena Burch, who was like a daughter to him.
Those left to cherish his memory and continue his legacy include his son, Osborne Bingham, Jr. ("Dinky); six grandchildren: Patrice Wyche, Elizabeth Bingham (“Yummy”), Osborne Bingham III (“DJ”), Christian Bingham, Jordan Bingham, and Veralyn Bingham; and four great-grandchildren: Antonio Jr., Aviela, Patience, and Coryah. He also leaves behind a beloved niece, Hattie Stancil (Larry), whom he raised as his own, many spiritual sons and daughters in Christ, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and dear friends.
