Bettie Seymour Obituary Well done, thou good and faithful servant. Enter thou into the joy of the Lord. Matthew 25:21 We pause in praise and adoration to the Almighty God for allowing us the privilege to assemble in Christian Love to pay final tribute to our mother, our friend, our confidant, who departed this life on the 2nd day of April 2025 at Transitions Hospice, Raleigh, NC. Mrs. Bettie Farrar Seymour, daughter of the late Mark Henry Farrar and Mary Ola Farrington Farrar was born September 30, 1948, in Chatham County. Bettie was a lover of music. She enjoyed singing with a passion. She began this ministry at the age of 5. Bettie was a 1966 graduate of Horton High School, Pittsboro, NC. Bettie was employed with IPAS, a womens reproductive health organization in Chapel Hill, for 30 years. She was a lifelong member at Hamlet Chapel C.M. E. Church where she served diligently as well as faithfully until the end. She was a member of the C.Y.F. (Christian Young Fellowship) and Mattie E. Coleman Club. She served as Secretary of Sunday School, Secretary of Missionary Society, President and Secretary of Senior Usher Board, President of Young Adult Choir and President of Voices of Hope Choir. She served as delegate representing the Hamlet Chapel Church and Sunday School at the Durham District Conference for 4 years. Some of her community involvements include NAACP Mother of the Year Plaque and Certificate for her participation in helping to carry out the Dream of our People. She served as Secretary of The North Chatham Community Development Center. Bettie was an extraordinary mother, grandmother, friend, babysitter, etc. She was endowed with a loving heart and a helping hand. Though her physical presence is no longer here, her spirit will live on in each of us. One of her favorite quotes was: "It's just nice to be nice." She also loved to cook and entertain guests in her home. "To God be the glory for all the things He has done." She was preceded in death by her husband Thurman (T. J.), brother- Ralph W. Taylor and niece- Evangelist Alice Faye Mitchell. She leaves to cherish her memory: Seymour; two daughters who were the love of her life Sharnetta (Netta) Seymour and Sharon (Shay) Seymour of Pittsboro, NC; one granddaughter Destiny Simone Downey (My Boot) of Pittsboro, NC; one step daughter Sheena D. Seymour of New Hill, NC; four sister-in-laws Sue, Jeanette, Mary and Mamie; one god daughter Marquita (Quita) Foust and two god grandchildren Jocelyn Stephens of Raleigh, NC and William Jennette Jr. of Morrisville, NC. She is also survived by two nieces and one nephew Carol Shears, Avis Sewell, and John Tyler Miller all of Winston-Salem, NC; best friends Delois Bynum and Bettie Harris and Roxie Edwards; and bonus children: Kaye (Neal), Kim (Drew), Chris (Stephanie), Sarah (Jacob Sr.), Chris Jr., Jasmine, Chelsey (Adam), Alexandria, Jason Jr., Ashley (Paul), Veronica, Matthew, Rodney, Maurice, Sheena A., and Seth. To My Girls, Netta and Sharon love each other no matter what comes or what goes. Always remember all the good things that I taught you. Take care of "My Boot."
